I finally agreed with something the WMCX announcers said all year..."The Hawks are playing with no passion, they have no hunger tonight." My words....What a pathetic, gutless, poor showing. Which senior is the softest? Marques is the only of the four that plays hard. Delic has never taken a good shot in four years, and Bunch and Hallet are both pathetic, grab a rebound. This is a sad sad performance and shows that none of those four care about winning a championship. Complancency and lack of heart. PERIOD!
tony, not a good effort tonight. They were out played in every aspect of the game.
Its unfortunate, i think we all thought things were going in the right direction. I say 2nd worst game of the year behind S. Hal.
Which of the following was heard most often tonight?
a. Bunch looses the ball, turnover?
b. Sacred Heart offensive rebound over Hallet and Bunch?
c. Youngblood in the lane forces one up?
d. All of the above?
Tony, Youngblood is too out of control, the big men are soft, and Delic just hoists up jumpshots. This is a talented group, but not a good team. Where are all the solid role players MU used to have? I dont mean an Alex Nunner type. He is a role player, but not a big factor. MU in the past 5-6 years had solid solid role players starting or playing starter's minutes. This was a poor effort. I cant stand listening to WMCX anymore eiter, no clue about hoops. It;s not your style either guys its the content.
The loss tonight hurt MU big time. This is a critical stretch, and MU needs to step it up if they still think that they have a chance against teams like RMU.
RMU lost again tonight..too. What's going on here?
I can't disagree with anything posted here.
Once the tempo got away from them they never got it back.
But what was really disturbing I thought was getting crushed on the offense glass..their seven-footer outplayed Bunch tonight..no question.
It was a case of whenever they really needed to make a stop or grab a rebound in the second half when it was still semi competitive..they never did.
They were just outplayed ..period.
While Youngblood was out of control at times..mainly in the first half..that one-on-oneness is just part of his make up and he did hit some tough shots in the second half but it was over by then....it didn't lose the game.
Their lack of depth is beginning to show. Really, they have just seven guys who play and if a few have bad games at the same time in an up tempo environment they're in big trouble.
Really, only Bunch and Delic played well the other night vs. MSM but it was enough because of the slow pace and relatively low score.
This is not a club (MU) right now that's going to light up the scoreboard most nights and win.
I am not going to the "movies"
Friday morning but I will be at practice at Quinnipiac.
Well....I do have to take issue with some of the posts..now that I have re-read them...but at least they stick to basketball.
Some are a little over emotional reactions I think, but you're frustrations are valid.
Remember..these seniors are part of two NCAA Tournament teams.
Delic is one of the reasons why MU wins at all... he has had some big games for the Hawks so I find the comment about him purely ignorant. Your assessment of Bunch and Hallet are correct however.
And again, lay off Youngblood. He is making a huge contribution as a freshman. Much more productive than a certain Rickie Crews...
When all else fails, blame the freshman. Get a life. Like the last poster, Youngblood is a major contributor. I mean heck, he is doing better than 2 of what suppose to be our dominant seasoned players. Another lose. Whoa is we!
I agree with last poster on Delic and "Jet."
Jhamar may fly a little off target at times, but I'll give him a long runway on that with his youth. He's still a very, very good young player.
This comment by someone : "This is a sad sad performance and shows that none of those four care about winning a championship. Complancency and lack of heart."
From me - yes it was a sad performance but, yes, they do care about winning a championship. To say they don't is nonsense.
About complacency?? Hmmmm...maybe some of the players didn't - again - take SHU as seriously as they should...certainly I don't know that for a fact.
Lack of heart is the most over used phrase in sports. I'm not going pin that on anyone. In some cases - lack of ability may be more accurate.
Now, on another issue, with Corey not playing effectively, and with Simpson and Shipman not available (if ever again this year, who knows?), than they are down to six viable players and one of them, Alex Nunner, is a role player.
They can't win that way, at least not consistently, not even in the NEC.
Dave was not happy with Bunch tonight. Though I didn't get his quotes into the paper he called Bunch's performance "horrible."
Which leads me to going to ask Dave on Friday if he is going to at least consider giving some playing time to Barlow and or Rickie Crews, not more time than Bunch though, maybe Corey, or just rotate one or the other in there at times.
At least just for another body and more depth..and maybe ....a contribution.
Bunch has his flaws to be sure, he's going to have off nights..hopefully for MU not many more like this though...but he's gotta play.
By the way...SHU sure has this part of the state excited. Tonight's attendance? A whopping 416. Yeh, it's the usual excuse, the the students were on break.
The WLB Zoning Board would love this place.
Crews, Tony? You cant count on him to showup let alone make an effort on the court?
Tony,
Like your comment about the WLB zoning board liking attendance numbers at SHU.
In regard to your comment about Calloway perhaps playing Barlow or Crews -- my thought is NO WAY!
Barlow is not a Div I player now; will he ever be -- don't know!
As for Crews, part of the problem is Dave's apparent stubbornness with bad actors like Crews -- don't get me wrong, I believe Crews is 99% of the problem; but the other he night he had a chance to play him with a few minutes to go & tried to stick it in his face by telling him to go in with only 20 seconds left -- the result was predictable -- another 'incident'. Last night, in a blowout, he didn't play him at all.
Crews..he's here. He's on scholarship. He's practicing. He's a body. It doesn't hurt to ask.
By "last night" are you referring to the game a few games back that triggered this whole, latest RC mess? Or a more recent game?
Barlow, Crews, they are on scholarship.....
Why is it when MU wins there are no blogs but as soon as they lose the end of the world as we know it is happening? Come on MU fans---no one wins every game. They had a bad night. For the poster who said Jhamar was too out of control...I remember reading the same said about Shipman. I'm beginning to think that the responders to this blog only appreciate misery and gloom. Here's a thought how about saying tough lose but we'll get them next time(and there's always a next time) We'll be better next game.
I edited this a little...

WELL, WELL, WELL. THANK YOU LAST POSTER. THE "MU" FAN OR SO-CALLED FANS STINK (90% OF THEM). I AM BEGINNING TO THINK THAT THE ONLY ONES THAT POST HERE WERE GEEKS THAT ALWAYS HATED THE ATHLETES IN HIGH SCHOOL/COLLEGE/LIFE. ALWAYS HAVING SOMETHING BAD TO SAY, YET WISH THEY WERE THEM. YOU "HATERS", PICK UP YOUR SPIRITS. STOP RACKING THE COALS IF YOU CAN'T FAN THE FLAMES. IF YOU WANT A TEAM THAT IS WINNING, JUMP ON THE "CLEMSON" BAND WAGON, JUST LIKE YOU ARE ON AND OFF OF MU'S.
