My plans for the day/news/notes/etc.
The plans are: to attend the MU practice 3:30 p.m. at Qpac and write the story for tomorrow which I will publish on here as soon as I am able.
I may attend the Rider at Fairfield men's game tonight..just for the heck of it. See what life is like at a MAAC game.
Have been talking with a few of the MU traveling party. The coaches had a film session last night after the SAC Heart game and then another one, as promised, with the players this morning. Will talk to one or more of the players about it at practice, or before, for their take.
Recruiting: MU is mainy looking at high school/prep school types at this moment. No definite JUCO prospects in their immediate - stress immediate - sights as this stage I am aware of..though I beleive that could change. MU did have a high school recruit visit for the MSM game the other night.
This n' that...While 416 were at the MU-SHeart game last night 4,500 attended a high school tournament in nearby Bridgeport. This is another reason why local papers always go so heavily on high schools, including here.
These small Conn. D1s languish for ink under the mighty UConn umbrella which gets tons of coverage from even the most local of papers.
On another subject: The Conn. Post had a note today that Fairfield men's senior guard Daniel Ogeslby has been suspended "for violating university policy." Only mentioning this to again underline stuff like this happens everywhere. Not saying it should happen or should be excused.... but, again, MU is hardly alone in these matters.
Oh yeh, how's this? One of the S Heart players suspended yesterday - freshman Chauncey Hardy, was suspended from playing his senior year in high school after being arrested for theft (this also in today's Conn. Post). I wonder how that would go over with MU critics if the Hawks took a chance on a player with similar baggage.
Hotel review: (you can see I have time on my hands) Trumbell Marriott. It's strictly a business hotel. Nice place for sure, but not nuts about it. No microwaves or friges in rooms. Internet is extra charge. Boo, hiss. No continental breakfast. Double Boo, hiss. Bar/restaurent...OK. Ten dollars for a roll. Extra for butter.
Just kidding. Very expensive though. In my opinion not the place to take the wife and kids on vacation.
