Monmouth: The Monmouth women’s basketball team (7-5, 1-1 NEC) comes into this afternoon’s game off a 64-50 loss to Long Island their last time out. The loss evened their Northeast Conference record a 1-1, and the Hawks were held without a double-digit scorer by the Blackbirds. LaKia Barber led the way with eight points and seven rebounds, and although all nine Hawks who played scored, no one connected on more than three field goals. The Hawks lead the NEC in rebounding, grabbing 41.1 boards per game.
Mount St. Mary’s: The Mount (3-9, 1-1 NEC) comes into today’s game riding a four-game losing streak, including their most recent setback, a 66-57 loss to preseason conference favorite Sacred Heart. They are led by guard/forward Dita Krumberga’s 14.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. The Mount holds a 25-9 advantage all-time over the Hawks, including winning their last match-up 61-56 last year.
