Mount St. Mary’s outlasted Long Island (from me: which as we know beat MU) 78-76, in four
overtimes on Thursday night in a game that is tied for the longest in
Mount history. Freshman Will Holland’s three-pointer on the fi rst possession
of the fourth overtime gave the Mount the lead for good. Fellow
freshman Kelly Beidler scored nine of his 15 points in the overtime periods
while Chris Vann paced the Mount with 23 points (21 in the fi rst half ).
Mychal Kearse (14 points) forced overtime with a lay-up with 35 seconds
left in regulation. Freshman Jeremy Goode added 10 points, eight boards
and six assists in the victory.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES...The Mountaineers holds a 24-19 lead in the alltime
series with the Monmouth. The Mount swept last year’s season series
and is 18-14 all-time in NEC regular season meetings between the
teams.
Slow Starters...The Mount jumped to a 10-2
lead over Long Island on Thursday. That broke
a streak of slow starts for the Mount. In the
previous nine games, the Mount trailed by fi ve
or more points in the opening six minutes of
the game.

Hitting the Offensive Boards...The Mount
has excelled on the offensive glass in recent
games.
Over the past three games, the Mount
is averaging 17.0 offensive rebounds per
game.
The Mount has recorded 16 or more
offensive rebounds in four of the past six
games, including 20 at North Carolina State
and 21 at Lafayette.
For the season, the Mount has been
in double fi ures in offensive rebounds in 10
of the team’s 13 games and has recorded 16 or
more in six.
Non-Conference Numbers...The Mount is
glad to see the schedule turn to conference
play. The Mount finished 1-10 this year in nonconference
games. Since joining NCAA Division
I, the Mount has struggled with the nonconference
portion of the schedule.
This from me:
MU's recent defensive run has carried it back to the top of the NEC in defense where it is tied with CCSU:
