A look at CCSU/my thoughts plus CCSU game notes highlights/your predictions

While it's correct to point out MU is shorthanded with seven regulars and that guys have to play extra minutes...CCSU's starters - in league games, average 30 minutes or more with Obie Nwadike and Tristan Blackwood at 39 and 35 minutes respectively. They bascially play five guys with a few others who don't score more than about 3-4 ppg., helping out here and there.

Also: Sacred Heart used just seven players when thumping MU last week.

Series History - Monmouth Leads 13-8
This is the 22nd overall meeting between the two programs and Monmouth leads the series 13-8, they have won seven straight meetings and nine of the last 11. Head coach Howie Dickenman is 8-11 all-time vs. Monmouth, 5-4 at home including last season's loss in the Northeast Conference Semifinals. The last win for CCSU vs. Monmouth came at home in 2004, 73-54. The Hawks have defeated CCSU three times in each of the last two seasons.

Looking for Four Straight
The Blue Devils are looking to win their fourth straight game for the first time this season. They have won five of the last six outings including three of four on the road and two straight at home. CCSU is 3-0 in conference home games this season.

CCSU Defense - 65 or Less (Seven Straight)

The Blue Devils enter tonight's game having held seven straight opponents under 65 points (actually 64), the longest streak in its Division I history. You have to go back to the 1951-52 season to find a streak longer than seven. During that year the Blue Devils held eight straight opponents to 65 or fewer points. Monmouth enters today's game averaging 63.2 points per game in conference play.

My prediction: MU has a size advantage but it hasn't mattered lately. It should be a defensive game which works to MU's advantage as CCSU usually doesn't push the ball or score a ton of points. But I just don't have good MU vibes at the moment. Then again, I am usually a pessimist. If Bunch has a big day this could change.

Otherwise - CCSU, 58-51. It ends its seven game losing streak to Monmouth and the Hawks suffer their third consecutive regular season NEC defeat for the first time since 1999-2000.
