John or Rahsaan - pick ONE
As you can see..this is sort of a slow week for MU hoops...but one of my co-workers came up with what I rate a fascinating poll question .....and here it is:
If you could start one MU point guard for an NEC championship game, would it be:
John Giraldo - 1,749 points (tied Alex Blackwell for all-time DI points at MU) over 113 games over four years, won NEC in 1996.
OR
Rahsaan Johnson - 1,628 points over 87 games over three years, won NEC in 2001.

With out question John G the best point guard so far for the Hawks...
Ray Auciello....No I would have to say Johnny G no doubt about it, he was phenomenal and a solid solid backcourt qb....Rahsaan was great in his one way, but for a big game and just one game, I would want John.
Tough question, here's how I see it. All things considered equal, Giraldo, but he would need better teammates around him because he made everyone else better by being able to distribute the ball. Rashaan, although he played with solid players like Crosby, would be the choice if he had to be the man and number one option. I would say Giraldo, but narrowly over Johnson.
I wuld take John without quetion, I've played with him in pick up games and he is definately the go-to-guy. Rahsaan was amazing to watch because he was flashy and made some amazing plays, but John is just all around solid.
For a career I'd say John. For one championship game I'll go with Rahsaan. He'd be more likely to take over and have huge game.
I think you have to have Blake at center over Owens.
Alston or Hamilton? Are you insane? Hamilton was much better than Marques, no offense.
Here are my MU First and Second teams from 1999-2000 through present
First team
G - Rahsaan Johnson
G - Dwayne Byfield
F - Marques Alston
F - Gerry Crosby
C - Blake Hamilton
Second Team
G - Chris Kenny
G - Tyler Azzarelli
F - Dejan Delic
F - Jason Krayl
C - Kevin Owens
Hmmm interesting Tony. I have to say I think Byfield was highly over-rated. He could shoot, but that was all. Crosby had a great senior year, but that was just one year. You forgot Tim Warner and TJ Tibbs, everyones favorite blogger on that list.
Tony, that second team there is awfully athletic right? Haha, but some very sound players fundamentally for sure. Why was Brandon Owens left off the list?
For a last shot and or for needing one big game.......I'd have to take.......Rahsaan.
