MAC attack..another try

Well, here we go again.
The West Long Branch Board of Adjustment (zoning board, planning board, etc.) is believed going to vote on the project at Thursday night's meeting. This is supposed to take place if the school and the town and the school have resolved the issue of limiting the number of annual gatherings of 4,000 plus at the arena to..whatever number of events the two sides agree on. Last I heard it might be around 15.

Of course..who knows what might pop up to further snafu a vote?

If it is approved,
and there are no further legal delays, ground breaking would probably take place in the spring with an estimated construction time per AD Marilyn McNeil of about 18 months.

Our news reporter..Carol Gorga Williams, will be at the WLB meeting and an update will be posted on BREAKING NEWS on the front page of the Press web site Thursday night (probably fairly late) and right here on this blog as soon as the newsroom forwards the info to me...

What do you think?

Will it be approved Thursday?
Will it be further delayed?
Will it be approved EVER?

How do you rate the importance of this project?

I think this arena is paramount to taking the next step for men's basketball. As far as recruiting, getting a larger fan base, getting teams to come to the MAC to play us. Very very important. But the WLB residents will come up with some more Bravo Sierra reasons why the building is no good for WLB. Cmon folks, pony up and make this happen. We all need this.

I agree with the last post here. The MAC is vital to MU, and not just in progressing in Div. I, but just KEEPING PACE with other NEC schools which already have better facilities than us.

As far as the vote being based on the number of 4000+ crowds we draw -- no problem in the immediate future there -- from what I've seen from the Hawks this season, that's a non-factor!

About the 4,000...that just doesn't involve hoops, but would include all functions at the arena.

Still...I don't think a 15 events limit would be a problem at this stage.

Right now..they just want to BUILD IT AND SEE WHO COMES.
