MAC vote now in December/Latest team news

The WLB Board of Adjustment Thursday night put off a vote on the MAC until the Dec. 14 meeting.

Basically it appears it will approve the MAC if it meets certain conditions and - here is the newest main issue now - limiting "capacity' events. They are events defined as, " events that would draw 4,000 or more."

At first the college proposed 25 such events but that number was bargained down to 15 though that is not the final figure.

Between now and Dec. 14 both sides are expected to arrive at a mutual number. Then an approval vote is expected according to our reporter at the scene, Carol Gorga Williams.

If approved, it needs one more month to be finalized. Thus construction could begin
in the spring.

BUT if any local resident wants to file a legal appeal of the board's decision, MU probably would not begin the construction process until the appeal is settled. It could go through up to two levels of court rulings.

So... if there is an appeal, it is estimated it will serve to further delay the onset of construction perhaps, and this is just en educated guess, for at least another year.

Of course, there may not be an appeal either. It would amount to a waste of the litigant's money as they are not believed to have a shot at winning. And some are still appealing the dorm ruling, which they also have no chance of winning per Carol's opinion.

Team news: Men's hoops. Frosh guard Yaniv Simpson (knee) made the trip to Texas and is available. I am not on the trip due to HS football.

MU Football: Adam San Miguel. No problems recoving from his ankle sprain. Will be ready for MU's next game, Nov. 25 or Dec. 2.

.

To me it appears inevitable the MAC will happen. It is now a question of when.
