MU baseball weekend preview

Don't know how often I can do this during the spring, but I had a little time tonight -

Where does MU finish in the NEC????

See..this is what I was talking about. MU baseball off to a good start..beginning the NEC season today ,and no one even bothers to offer on how they'll do in the league this year.

Now if they were 4-16 some people would be screeching I'm sure. Well..such is human nature I guess.

With the Monmouth University baseball team (12-8-1) launching its 2007 Northeast Conference season with four games at Mount St. Mary's (10-12) beginning Thursday I spoke a little while ago via cf with MU coach Dean Ehehalt...

Brad Brach will pitch Thursday's opener followed by Ryan Buch and Brett Brach in Friday's DH. The ever popular "undecided" will pitch Saturday.

Ehehalt - "We've done everything we've needed to do to get ready for conference play. We're playing scrappy, shown improvement, and our pitchers have done a real nice job of keeping us in every game.

.
""Offensively I think we have the makings of a real, good offensive team. We have less power than in the past, but we don't strike out as much, we've got some speed, and a pretty good lineup.
""I think we came out and hit right from the start and it gives you a lot of confidence.''

MU will finish first in the NEC.
They have a great team and coach.
Keep track of their progress daily.
Read your blog daily.
When a MU team can take 2 out of 3 from U of Central Florida that is saying something.
All the Florida schools think they have the best baseball teams in the nation.
Now that the season begins in the NEC, I look for them to be at the top and go to the NCAA playoffs.
Keep on blogging about all the sports, even if I am the only one who reads them.
Thanx.

To Fla MU alum: In the relatively obscure world of college baseball, at least as it exists here in the Northeast, MU taking 2 of 3 at UCF was a very noteworthy event.

MU's record and I would guess most teams's record from this area at UCF, is probably less than glittering. After being ambushed at home by MU, ..UCF turned around and won 2 of 3 from Rutgers.

Did you see how MU won at MSM today? It actually looks as if MU got three outs on the last play though it needed only two.

The MSM kid flies to deep center, the runner at second fails to tag and is called out, and the runner who was trying to advance from first to second on the long drive was tagged out.

Wonder how you'd score that one...8-4 plus mental blunder??

I'm glad you read about MU's (I feel) somewhat unappreciated spring sports.

I am sure others do as well, though they fail to comment.
