MU women's lacrosse s off to a smashing start! ...from MU SID Greg Viscomi

Hawks whack Lafayette Tuesday, 21-6 - for details please go to MU web site....
Monmouth University improved to 8-3 overall and 3-0 in Northeast Conference play with a 11-8 win over Sacred Heart in its only game last week (begind four goals by junior Ashley Waldman).

The Hawks built a 8-1 lead in the game but allowed the Pioneers to come back in the contest but MU held on for the three point win…

The game marked the first time in 25 games that senior Katie Degen (Glen Head, N.Y./North Shore) did not tally a goal, although she kept her consecutive game with a point streak alive, which is now at 26 games (she had two assists in the game)

Sophomore Monica Johnson (Radnor, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) had 13 saves in the game for MU, who outshot the Pioneers 33-29… junior Megan Nutter (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) continued her impressive numbers on both sides of the ball, finishing the game with three goals, three ground balls, one caused turnover and one draw control…

Monmouth struggled in free position chances, earning nine but scoring on only four opportunities, with Ashley Waldman scoring two.

My comments: Defending NEC champs rolling towards another crown???
