Brookdale wins showdown with OCC in women's soccer

Ally Mullaney's free kick, a 19-yard blast with two minutes remaining Thursday, carried Brookdale Community College to a 2-1 win over Ocean Thursday in women's soccer. It gave the Jersey Blues (9-2-1), winners of nine in a row, the Garden State Athletic Conferenc championship and the top seed in the NJCAA Division III Region 19 Tournament. Mullaney is a sophomore graduate of Howell High School.

Kelly Ackerman (Freehold) gave Brookdale a 1-0 lead in the first half before Ocean's Nicole Laureigh (Lacey) tied the score on the first shot by the Vikings (7-2-2) in the second.

The teams could meet again in the regions.
