Brookdale stays alive/from the NJCAA web site(More details in Tuesday's Press)

Brookdale knocks out St. Louis – Forest Park 8-6 in NJCAA Division II World Series

MILLINGTON , TN – Brookdale Community College (42-9) broke a 6-6 tie with a single run in the eighth and ninth to claim an 8-6 win over St. Louis-Forest Park in an elimination game in the NJCAA Division II World Series Monday. Brookdale led 4-0 after two innings but found themselves trailing 5-4 after six innings. The Jersey Blues then scored two in the top of the seventh, and the Highlanders answered with one in the bottom of the inning before Brookdale claimed the win.

Carlos Guzman led the hitting for BCC with two hits, including a home run and three RBI. Paddy Matera (TR North) had three hits for the Jersey Blues, while Damian Walcott (Freehold) also went deep. Steve Porter and Ryan Gray each had three hits for St. Louis , while Blake Bussmann and Brad Johnson each homered for the Highlanders.

Jonathan Guzman (2-0) picked up the win in one and a third innings or relief. William Lawson shut the door in the ninth to pick up his first save of the season. Matt Kerperien (3-2) took the loss. He threw to two batters, both of which scored.

Brookdale advances to take on the winner of Elgin and Allegany Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. St. Louis – Forest Park finishes the season 36-20.
