Talked with TR East coach Bill Frank tonight who said it'll mainly a "game time decision" as to whether Casey Gaynor takes the mound at Cherokee in Tuesday's NJSIAA South Jersey IV semifinal in quest of Shore Conference career record-tying victory number 33.
It's my guess Gaynor (10-1), who needed last out relief help last Friday after throwing over 120 pitches in the 7-6 win over Vineland won't start this one but may come on in relief of senior Adam Ponaski(4-2).
Ponaski, by the way, was very effective against Cherokee in a pre-season game.
Steve Falk of Observer will be on hand at Cherokee to cover the game for the Observer and Press. I'll be at the CJ III semifinal at Freehold between the Colonials and Colts Neck.
Colts Neck has never played in a sectional final and Freehold hasn't won one since 1962 according to Freehold coaches.
The winner could get Ocean if the Spartans get by at Nottingham in their CJ III semifinal game.
If Ocean wins Tuesday, Friday's final will be at Ocean
as sectional finals are being played ay home fields of the highest seeds.
If TR South and TR East both win Tuesday TR East will host that sectional final Friday.
This is looking well ahead but there potentially could be a NJSIAA Group II semifinal between Point Boro and Raritan if both win their sectional championships.
There could also be a South Jersey A final between CBA and either RBC or St. John Vianney. This, too, is pushing the envelope, but it's possible.

Any thoughts on who wins the Ocean-TRS SCT final Wednesday? I'll be happy to publish any reasonable predictions on the old blog.
Yours truly and Scott Stump, recently voted "favorite sports writer" of Holmdel athletic director Laurie Cancalosi and principal Cheryl Swider, should be at FirstEnergy Park for the SCT final.
