MU Commissioner Cup streak reaches four/ This and more at the MU web site

MONMOUTH CLAIMS FOURTH STRAIGHT NEC COMMISSIONER'S CUP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE For the fourth consecutive year and the sixth time in the award’s history, Monmouth University has won the Northeast Conference Commissioner’s Cup as the premier overall athletic program in the league, league commissioner Brenda Weare recently announced. The Hawks also claimed the men’s Cup for the sixth straight year.

MU’s outstanding year included championships in men’s soccer, football, men’s indoor track and field, men’s golf and men’s and women’s outdoor track and field. Also, the women’s lacrosse team and the baseball teams won their respective NEC Tournament Championships.

"Every year, we make it a department goal to aim for the Commissioner's Cup. Attaining it takes a total team effort from our 400 student-athletes and each of our 19 sports," said Monmouth Director of Athletics Dr. Marilyn McNeil.

"This verifies our program-wide commitment and passison for excellence, and I am very proud of all our student-athletes, coaches and the Athletics Department as a whole."

Not at the moment.

I haven't talked to Dave since the last story ran on the incoming recruits. With no scholarships to offer next year (unless some one leaves) they are looking at young players.

I find it funny that the only comment on the Commissioner cup story is about the team that did the least to win the men's and overall- as far as points go. Although I didnt think to comment till then either.

I'm not sure how much many of you know about the award, but it's pretty amazing to win it. Now take it a step further, Monmouth has won the is award 4 straight years and a total of six. Kudos to all of the student athletes and coaches who prepare them every year.

To HFT: I'm really not sure what the other poster was talking about.

Anyway, it is a significant accomplishment that tends to fly under the public radar.

Presumably MU can use it and the upcoming new arena to further recruiting....

You get points towards the commissioner's cup based on where your team finishes in the regular season (for sports except Golf and Tennis i believe), so i think the other poster meant that Men's hoops brought in a minimal number of points THIS year- which they found funny because the only comment on the CC was about men's hoops.
