New MU 2007-2008 hoops and general comments

Since we got to 40 comments on the last blog on this topic and it was getting a little long, let's pick up this and other subjects here...

As you look ahead to next year's MU team (with three returning players)....what would be minimum acceptable to you as a fan...???
1. Just hustling and playing hard whatever the record.
2. At least qualifying for the NEC Tournament
3. Qualifying for the NECs and winning a game.
4. All of the above plus a winning season in the NEC.
5. A winning season overall

OK, I have read all your comments about who is at fault for last years losing season.
Time to move on to next year.
The coaches and players are in place, so let's talk bball.
I would like to see MU with an overall winning season.
As to the NEC standing, somewhere in the middle when all is over.
Fresh young team that needs experience.
Bball skills look good but my concern with the freshmen is their academic skills.
TG - do you know how strong the fresh are in the classroom?
We do not need them sitting out because of they cannot make the grade.

To Fla alum: From what the MU coaches s tell me here should be no academic issues with this group. All are said to be good students.

I believe Barbour had interest from Army for example.

Perhaps the point may be...if a service academy is recruiting you..perhaps you may be a high quality student...

Perhaps that was never an issue in your case

Tony, youre right. The service academies recruit only quality kids and strong students. Dont mean to be fresh here, but some qaulity student athletes in this program could be a fresh of breath air. That is not a shot at any one kid, but my honest humble opinion from things I have heard and witnessed. Great blog.

Well that really isn't a shot at the kids in sorts. It should be more of a shot at those recruiting the kids. I am sure acedemics is a qualifing aspect in most other D1 programs. From the looks of things MU may have owed a couple of favors and made good on them or they have just been filling scholarships jut for the sake of it. All but one freshman redshirting this last season is ridiculous and one was a walk on. Man! Even the ones that were eligible to play were considered redshirts. So what does that say for the process? As far as the Acedemics and military service lt.dann it sounds good but you know as well as i that as long as there is a HS diploma in hand or a GED - minus a criminal background (even that's doable) that you can be in BT in a matter of no time. So keep it real.
