MU baseball opens with 7-4 win at Central Florida. Rookie Brett Brach (Freehold Twp.) does not fall prey to the APP cover jinx and throws four hitless innings in relief and Monmouth rallies with five runs in the sixth to take the lead. Mike Casale (TR North) leads Monmouth with three hits and four RBI including a two-run double in the sixth.

Might be the biggest win in MU basbeball history beating a team from Florida this early in the year.

Actually Brad Brach and Kevin Schneider combined to beat UCF 2-1 on March 4 of last year...

none the less..a very good win yesterday what a finish by Brett Brach!!!

- and they would have won again today probably but are committing toooooo many errors....Monmouth has made eight in the first two games....and UCF scored just four earned runs today and none yesterday ..

Today the teams combined for 24 hits, 10 errors, 27 left on base, 17 walks and 14 strikeouts in a game that lasted 3:56 and featured heavy rain late in the contest...

But it's good for MU fans to see the Hawks hitting well as I think that was, and is, the question mark this year..

It's great to talk baseball (and spring sports) so I hope we have many participants here all spring...

MU has always had strong pitching but the hitting has been their down fall. When they have strong hitting they usually finish very strong like in 1998 and 1999.

Right. For the most part they didn't hit a lick when they slumped at the end of last season. Kyle Higgens (injured last year) already with six hits out of the leadoff spot.
