I transposed this from a prior topic....

Tony,
How bout some predictions on MU SFPA game? I say MU 78 and SFPA 72. It is a close game alittle sloppy lots of turnovers but "the jet" takes over the game by scoring

Yeah I say monmouth wins big. They take out their anger about a disappointing year on SFPA. I am feeling strange about going dancing again you never know with this team!?!?!?!

The only shots that the MU BBall team will make is napkins in a garbage can while they are watching the NEC Tournament on TV.

Monmouth wins but lets be honest...they will go nowhere in the NEC tourney and neither will the team representing the NEC what a joke conference.

To check your RPI,
Everyone on here totally understands where the NEC ranks in the RPI, but lets be clear about something, for the past several years the team that has represented the NEC in the NCAA tourney held their own and didn't get blown out. Check with some of the higher RPI teams such as Rutgers and some of the others that are afraid to play NEC teams how much of a joke league we are. Granted we aren't the Big East or MAAC, but I tell you what teams surely fear us. FEAR THE BIRD and HIT A FREE THROW!

To free throw.....fear? Probably not. Respect? Yes, especially after MU showing last year.

But the NEC is a shadow of the great year of '95-96 when MU went to the NCAAs, the Mount and Marist to the NIT, and those three and Rider were all between 50-100 in collegerpi.com

MU probably grinds out a win tonight, but it's no cinch -- SF Pa has been playing much better lately -- be careful!

Hawks will win and get in. Then they will handle things in Connecticut.

Tony I think you and I just came up with a cool new logo for a Monmouth T-shirt.....RESPECT THE BIRD! We should run this past marilyn and collect our checks!

This just in - Little Dave just called me to say he would have taken an earlier time out Friday night!

I think what Little Dave meant was he would have put a few players in time out.

Actually..I like FDU and RMU to win, better than I like MU tonight...

I'm still not convinced this team has the heart to beat the worse team in the league. After watching Friday night and all of the other nights we had leads and blew the game, I would only put my money on one player showing up tonight and playing his heart out and that is the "Jet". Funny how a freshman who has never experienced the NEC tourney or even the large stage of the NCAA's can play like he wants to go back to a place he has been before. You would think the players who have experiened these things would want to go back and destroy anything in front of them to get there.
If anything, we can say at the end of the season that at least one player showed that he had heart and wanted to do everything in his power to win. Just imagine if we didn't have him, where would we be? Just HIT A FREE THROW tonight fellas.....please!

What i actually meant is i would have came out of the traditional offense much earlier so that i could ride the "Jet" to some more frequent flyer milage to the rim.

As a sidelight tonight's game may well decide NEC Rookie of the Year honors, Jhamar "the Jet" or "Sweetness," Devin Sweetney of SFPA.

I think if MU wins and Jhamar plays a key role he wins the award..unless Sweetney has some monster game.

On the other hand..if Sweetney has a solid to big night and helps lead SFPA in its spoiler's role, than he may have the inside track.

To me - personal honors are immaterial compared to team success..

At the same time I would be happy for Jhamar- a great kid by the way in my opinion - if he won the award.

I'm nervous and I have no freakin' idea what's gonna happen. However, I will be hoping for the best.

I'm not questioning jhamar's heart. I agree with you, but he is not the only one. No one should EVER question Marques Alston's heart. He just plays hard and practices hard all the time. He's not a vocal leader, but he has heart.

Who would have thought back in the fall - it would come down to the last game..... just to make the NEC Tournament.

MU fans have to be pinching themselves..it's gotta be a bad dream...

To MU mystery coach - When this season is over (in a few hours? a few days?) I think I speak for many on this blog who would like to have you share your insight with us as to - in your opinion - what the hell happened?!@!

MU RPI 253 vs St PA 323 MU wins by 1 in OT basket by the JET

I am not questioning any one's heart myself....maybe we over estimated some abilities....

In my opinion - Jhamar has performed waaaay beyond expectations...

Bunch - after that mid season slump - has done well....

Marques - and this is a fine line here - has not played overall quite as well as I thought he would though his numbers are OK....

Deki is....Deki....overall he's having a very nice year..

But a few others have performed below the bar that was set for them, and depth beyond the first seven never materialized which was also disappointing ......

I sort of go with SHU....they have no size except for Potter and aren't likely to shoot as well from 3 again..

QU has better athletes..D. Anderson can be a big scorer and Karl (why isn't he at MU?) Anderson..though terribly misused, is having a good senior year. True..their defense is wanting.

CCSU just seems to have it going this year..let someone else knock them off ...

Actually..QU has the sixth or seventh worst defense in the NEC which is like being number one for them!!!.SHU is last in defense..but No. 1 in offense..

Tony and Bob... This my order that I would want in the tourny...

SHU
CCSU
QU

The way we played for 32 min the other night, I am confident that we can take them out.

CCSU is tops in the conference, no doubt, but they can be beaten. MU had them beat up there in Jan, and if the D shows up to that game, they can win.

QU is a scary team because its unknown. Destroyed MU in Jan but at a time the team was playing its worst and without Ship, if only they rematched durin the year.

If we do get in the NEC tourney how far do you think we will go Tony? This has to be the hardest conference to predict!!!

I think they have a decent shot at the Conn. teams other than CCSU..which is playing so well. FDU does not seem to be wonderful match up either..

..BUT...no one is unbeatable....I predict there will be more than one upset in the first round...
