Adam Katz hit a 12 footer from the left side of the lane with three seconds left to give 10th-seed Morris Hills the upset over second-seeded Mendham in the quarterfinal round of the Morris County Tournament in Randolph.
Mendham took its final lead at 45-44 with 1:06 to when 6-7 senior forward Nick DelTufo, who scored a career-high 30 points, connected inside. Morris Hills countered with a basket by Justin Doniloski to go ahead, 46-45, with 36 seconds left.
Mendham then worked the ball to DelTufo, who was fouled with 19 seconds left. He missed the first attempt before sinking the second for a 46-46 tie, setting the stage for the game-winner by Katz, a junior guard.
"Things like that can happen when you work hard," said Katz, who finished with a team-high 14 points. "And our team works very hard."
Mendham coach Jim Baglin agreed.
"They scrapped and played hard," he said. "They deserve a lot of credit."
Morris Hills got 13 points from Doug Dudek, including nine in the third quarter. He sank three free throws after being fouled on a 3-point attempt to get his team within six points.
Still, Mendham used a buzzer-beating basket by DelTufo to take a 41-37 lead into the fourth quarter. But other than DelTufo's one field goal and three free throws, Mendham went scoreless over the final period as Morris Hills was content to play a man defense that allowed DelTufo to flourish while challenging others to make key shots.
MORRIS HILLS (48): Doniloski 4-1-1-12, Dudek 4-5-0-13, Katz 5-1-1-14, Kellner 0-0-1-3, Zelnick 1-0-0-2, Perez 2-0-0-4, Marotta 0-0-0-0 Totals: 16-7-3-48
MENDHAM (46): Berish 2-0-0-4, Burstein 2-1-0-5, Twill 1-0-1-5, Deltufo 12-6-0-30, Poges 1-0-0-2, Hanson 0-0-0-0 Totals: 18-7-1-46.

I have not.
One or two people on here have. He's generally been described to me by MU coaches and others as a fundamental, system type player is all I can tell you.
He is not expected to make an immediate impact far as I know.
Dont expect very much. Just saying.
He is a good fit for MU,good with the ball likes to rebound, very good basketball IQ,father a coach at the D-3 level he will help over the long run.Could be a good Red Shirt foe next season.
