Message from Tyson

(For those of you who don't want to hear about him any more - then don't read it. I feel there is still much interest around MU on how he is doing, now and in the future.)

Tyson sent me this -

"What a forum Tony G.

I see I'm stirring up a lot of talk.

First off.. for whoever said that to be a wish list of schools, you can add Texas A&M and Michigan St. to that list..

Secondly my first semester GPA was a 3.2..

Ok. I made mistakes at Monmouth. It happens, can't change it now right??

Only can improve. So for the people that have love for me I appreciate it and for you that don't I can care less.. I know I'm going to go to a school and be a big time player.

Can't believe someone said LIU.. HAHA.

Ok buddy. People like you just make me push even harder.

I came into Monmouth, not in the right frame of mind.

Anyway I wish Monmouth the best of luck this year still have a lot of friends there, hope they make the playoffs."

Tyson: No smart coach at a big time school would touch you with a ten foot pole. Just the facts. Cant wait for your cronies to pump you up on here.

Tony: You honestly believe this joker is being recruited by schools such as Michigan St?

This is sad...Who cares about Tyson Johnson.

Tony I see you also neglected my St marys post from the last thread on Tyson. Well it is all true. Some pipeline! I will give Byfiled a pass, although I didnt care much for him. Ager and Tyson really helped us out alot. That program is a smoke screen. JOKE!

Tyson you're a star man. Can you mail your autograph? Also can you send a picture of yourself on an 8.5 by 11 size paper. Wait double that, because you couldnt fit on that size paper. 6'3 270, what a build!

Tony if you censor this I will really be upset. This is what you call a humbling experience for Tyson. I know a D-1 coach at a low level, much lower than MU, and they are "LOOKING" at Tyson, havent offered him, but looking at him. His remarks to me were this, "The kid has basically nothing going." I have heard Iona is giving him a look and a few low schools like that. This kid is full of it Tony, part of the reason he is not growing up. He listed Indiana, Texas A&M, Michigan St., etc.

TONY PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS! THIS KID NEEDS A DOSE OF REALITY BADLY!

The thing I like about Tyson is that he played hard, and he's mature enough to admit his mistakes. How many times do athletes (especially young ones)have it not work out at one school, and then leave really bitter about it. It'd be easy for Tyson to blame the coaches and say he hates Monmouth and not take responsibility, but he doesn't, and in today's sports world that really says a lot.

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Message from Tyson":

Tony who cares honestly. This is an MU sports board, not those who let us all down. I dont get you Tony. I used to respect you, now I question your morals. This kid:

a.) was a constant headache
b.) overslept for a PLAYOFF game, playoffs
c.) grades were poor
d.) the other incident, with a female student on campus

Wow your right we should still be talking about him.

To Tyson:

You will never, never be a big time player, and more importantly you are not a good person. There is a reason big time schools didnt recruit you out of high school.

Tony I am really disappointed in you.

If no one wants to hear from or talk about Tyson any more - I have no problem with that.

But his name has been mentioned on this blog numerous times before now .....

People had been saying on the blog that he was not doing well..would be going to this or that school - so he wanted to set the record straight and I felt that was fair..

But..as I said - if people would rather not discuss s him here - he will not be brought up...

To the poster who knows the D 1 coach...

Well..this is a blog.. he or anyone can make various claims...as you are doing here as well ...I am not going to check them out.

When (if) he claims to be going to a D 1 school...I will then check that out with the particular school - as I would with anyone..

I wonder if wew are talking about the same D 1 coach?

I predict Tyson and Rickie Crews will be on the same sinking boat come this seasons end.

Tony,
Tyson seems to like you. E-mail him and talk him into a return to the Jersey Shore and Monmouth University. Explain to him that we have ZERO bigs for next year and he could be the starting power forward next year and the year after that for that matter. Explain how Tyson, Rickie, JET, Whitney and Shipman could form the most athletic and exciting MU starting 5 ever. Explain that MU needs him now and to make his wrongs a right, he should return and help us. MU did give him multiple chances before he messed up, why can't he give MU another chance?

Re: talking Tyson into returning to MU

It would not be my job to do that - but you explained it vividly and he - as we have noted - reads the blog.

I am sure he knows the situation here anyway.

My question is - let's say, for the sake of argument, he wanted to return to MU. How would the fans greet him?

I'll answer that - in my opinion - most with open arms.

I think the fans would RESPECT tyson if he went to JUCO and learned from his mistakes and then returned to MU to be the star they had hoped he would be.

Hey Coach Calloway, there is your impact JUCO forward you were looking for!

Tony,
Any chance you could ask the coaching staff if they would welcome Tyson back? I know Coach Calloway always talks about his young men growing up and maturing into grown men during their careers at Monmouth. It seems as if Tyson took a different route, but might still be able to get to that maturity level. So, would it be possible for you to ask the coaching staff how they'd feel about a reunion? With the types of bigs we've been recruiting, I would imagine they should at least try to go this route if Tyson was at all open to the idea.

The forum is pretty rough on Tyson. Why wont he be a big time player? Are you following his life now? People are so critical sometime. Give the kid a break. Hes trying to better himself. I would love to see him back at Monmouth.

I just axed my own post because of spelling goofs...

Let's try again -

To last poster: Nice to see there are some reflective, understanding folks out there.

Aside from my own posts - the Tyson vote - if I have counted correctly - is eight fans are willing to forgive if not forget, and seven hope or predict Tyson winds up at Iona, or Prairie View, etc.

I am definitely willing to forgive and let him come back but I'm not so sure the players and coaches will feel the same way.
