The future of the NEC lies in its freshman class with a number of first year collegiate players taking on integral roles for their respective teams. Monmouth freshman guard Jhamar Youngblood (Newark, NJ/St. Patrick’s) is the current Choice Hotels/NEC Rookie of the Week and leads all NEC freshman in field goal percentage (.550; fourth overall) and steals (1.8 spg; third overall), and ranks second in points (11.7 ppg). Below is a quick look at some of the NEC’s top freshman performers, five of whom will likely earn spots on the league’s all-Rookie team at season’s end:

I cant help but think if the Hawks were doing better as a team, Youngblood would have earned NEC ROW more...
