An MU home six pack/How many do they win?
Six game home stand about to begin..I believe longest in MU regular season D1 annals going back to 1983-84 ...does not include the exhib. game with Stockton..here we go...
Thursday vs. LIU (3-4, 2-4 vs. D1s)
Sat. vs. Hartford (3-3) which is at Penn State Wednesday
Dec. 29 vs. Lehigh (4-6) which hammered MU last year..is 2-1 vs. NEC teams this year.
Dec. 31 vs. Loyola Marymount (6-3, 4-2 vs. D1s). RPI.com #42. MU is #138,
Jan. 4 vs. Wagner (2-6)
Jan. 6 vs. Mount St. Mary's (1-6)..only win over James Madison (2-5)

I may be putting myself out this with this prediction but I think we can win 5 out of 6. I think Monday night's embarrassment will get the guys going. I'm sure the long ride home down the turnpike with Dave yelling was not a pretty sight. And I'm pretty sure that today's practice will not be a happy one either.
I (maybe you as well) have been on team buses after wins/losses. I don't beleive Dave was yelling all the way home (he has a hoarse voice you know)..but seriously..yelling, etc. was probably confined to after the game ..seems there may have been stuff to be perturbed about?...
I would think practice today to be determined and turn upbeat (much like it was after the Penn game) with the pending onset of the NEC season..
MU is 3-6..right? Looking at the games MU is still "on schedule" with a shot at 5-6 non-conference wins....to expect more considering the quality of opposition and all the road/neutral court games would not have been realistic....
I also think they win five of six (the loss would appear to be Loyola Marymount) but you never know how things work out (they lose to Lehigh and beat LMU?..strange things happen sometimes)...but they could also win all six as all - in my opinion including LMU - are "winnable" games....
If they go 3-3 or something like that I know I, personally, would have to rethink how this team is going to fare ...
Six home games (seven including the Stockton game) in about a month is rather unique.....
what time is practice today?
I'm pretty sure practice is at 3 pm.
Tony I hope that the MU practice today is as fierce as this MU hoops forum has become. I understand people's frustrations, but as a former player I understand also that the kids themselves want to win, and will do everyting in their power to do so.
As far as this post, I can see the Hawks winning five out of six as well, four our of six would not shock me though.
LIU versus MU I look for the Hawks to come out with alot of energy and sort of a chip on their shoulder and I can see an MU win, something in the ballpark of 71-59. John Bunch could have a big breakout game versus a small and weak LIU frontline.
I have to admit I do not know much about Hartford, but I know they lost two very good players, including Kenney Adeleke, who I played against back when he suited up for Hofstra. I think MU wins a tight one here 68-64. I believe Hartford plays a matchup and runs a similar offesnive set to MU, but dont quote me there.
On Stockton, MU 80- Stockton 55 (Happy Holidays to Stockton).
MU certainly owes Lehigh for what they did to the Hawks last year. This could be a battle for MU, as Lehigh returns some solid players including Olivero, Neptune, and White. I am going to say that this is a tossup game, but I like MU 71-63 at Boylan.
On Loyola Marymount, this is the toughest out of the six, and would do wonders for MU's RPI and help its case should it want to get a higher seeding for the NCAA tourney or lobby for an NIT bid, should be able to hit the 20 win plateau. LMU is just very tough up front with Matt Knight, and Brandon Worhty is a S.O.B to cover; very solid player. I can see a tight one, but if I had to predict, I would say LMU 70 MU 62ish.
Wagner, another team I for one can't stand. I always like beating up on Wagner, and I look for MU to go 2-0 in the NEC with a 67-54 beating of the Seahawks.
Mt. St. Mary's has been a thorn in the side of MU for the past few years, but at home I like the Hawks in this one. Because of the "grind-it-out" nature of these two teams this could be an ugly one. I like MU 56-48.
Overall, Seton Hall means little to the season. What does matter is how the team responds and improves after a learing experience like the other night. Tony I want to reiterate how I feel this is a great forum for MU fans (and detractors) to express their feelings and sentiments on the status quo of the program, keep up the good work. I know I try to check it every other day, and I know many others do. Thank you for the hard work.
I dont know for sure, but I'll do a six pack before each game myself to celberate the upcoming six pack home schedule. Geterdone! You know what I'm sayin'!
4-2 still think MU is there in March when it all counts ,3-0 in the NEC then we will all be very happy FANS again. Go Hawks
4-2 at best,we need a point guard to win.Go Hawks
I think you're being a little hard on Shipman here. Tyler Azzarelli in his sophomore year averaged 3.2 ppg..while doing a good job at ball handling with 64 assists and 45 turnovers on a team that, overall, had more assists than turnovers.
In his last four games Shipman has 24 assists and 12 turnovers but yes, he is definitely a liability from 3 at the moment and he's not taking all that many, just 13 in the last five games. In my opinion his outside shot is something he'll hopefully be working on. He can go to the hoop, and I think in the NEC may be effective in that regard.
Tony, Mike can be a good player, right now he is taking BAD 3 pt shots. He is very good going to the basket. But without a player who wants and understands the role of point guard it will be hard for MU to win.
Mike so far has started nine games as a collegiate point guard. Yes, he played a lot last year albeit in a subordinate role. He has been a PG most of his basketball life and was recruited as same and, in my opinion, knows what a PGs role is. I think he'll be fine.
You make a point (about the point guard!) about the 3s...they need to be less forced or desperate though he has been, I think, more selective in recent games (well, maybe not Monday!)
Though that 50-footer last year vs. SFPA, a tad desperate, seemed to work.
I would like to see him drive and dish a little more, or get to the hoop and finish.
Mike Shipman is and has always been a great PG. Mike is a very compettitive leader who hates to lose and has not lost much throughout his basketball career(starting with 8yr. old AAU-til back to back HS championships)The kid can just flat out play& he's a natural leader. As far as knowing the role of a PG-check out his assists & where he stands in Mid-Majority rankings. Yes his shot is failing him at the moment but if you don't keep shooting they will never fall. The big thing with Mike's game is he does so many other things that are intangible to playing a complete game of basketball. No he's not as flashy as some of the more heralded players in Div.1 B-ball but he gets the job done. Just have patience MU fans I promise you won't be disappointed.& Mike if you should happen to read this----Keep your head up! The BX. is watching & we got your back baby!
To Shipman supporter..he's a fine point guard..as I said needs to work on his shot..but his main job is to run the show and play defense..and he usually does though I guess no one did Thursday night...but LIU was very quick...and poised..
