Not that it matters, but actaully muhawkfan didn't report it. Tuff loss yesterday, but the team was flat after the big win last week at Colgate. Monmouth has a fine football program and the NEC is really earning some respect this year. Good luck to MU the rest of the way.

I apologize, am gonna just have to call you "scoop"..anyway.. good job by you... Yes, they looked flat but I think the injuries in the secondary hurt big time and the turnovers were incomprehensible. Time now to look ahead to this week

Noticed that SB used a lot of freshman on Saturday. We have not seen many frosh on the field for MU.Is it that they cannot break into the lineup or are they going to be Red Shirt players saved for next year?

A very good question on your part.
Cuttino and Giddings were among the SBU freshmen who played vs. MU and I am sure either got full or close to full rides. SBU probably had more openings on the roster for freshmen to break in than does MU which starts 17 seniors. Of the MU freshmen Joe Cella, Andrew Mandeville, Ryan Skorupka, and Shawn Wright (OL) are the only ones who have played and probably will play. The rest will be red-shirt freshman next year. With so many MU upperclassmen there seems no reason to play a true freshman unless they are going to make significant impacts. Mandeville had to play because punter Sean Dennis was suspended for the first two games. Wright (6-2, 275) has apparently done well in the OL rotation, and Skorupka has looked sharp when he's been in there but they may not have needed to use him this season with the emergence of Dave Sinsi. I know the coaches thought a lot of freshman LB Jeff Brady from New York State and he's listed as back up but hasn't played. Cella played on special teams early in the season but I don't think has seen much action since and did not play Saturday according to the participation chart. Again..it's a matter of need. If MU doesn't need to play these young kids this year than a red-shirt year is more beneficial. I thought the wide out from Don Bosco (Brian Callahan) might see some action this year but it hasn't happened yet.

Think about Tony, It's a new coach over at SBU and he's probably going to play HIS signees, not Sam Kornhauser's. In fact there were several upper classmen which were team captains last year who have been benched by the new coach in favor of the freshman.

Makes sense to me. During the regular season I don't see that much of MU football practice....only get over there one day a week and then also watch hoops...From what I saw in preseason most impressive new face was Sinsi who is a redshirt freshman and he is a virtual starter. But with all the seniors, there was no way a goodly number of MU freshmen were going to play this year.
