Latest on John Bunch

Well....this is why we never print in the paper (or almost never print, but blogs are different!) rumors.

The surgery on John Bunch, 7-2 senior center for the Monmouth University basketball team, we heard was scheduled for this week, actually was performed last Tuesday and was successful Monmouth coach Dave Calloway told me Saturday. Calloway said surgery on a torn meniscus, a C-shaped piece of fibrocartilage, was performed by team physician Dr. Harry Bade of Professional Orthopedics, and Bunch is expected to be ready for the season.

Calloway said he will be undergoing a similar procedure in a few weeks and that such surgery is consdered minor.

Bunch has been beset by chronic knee problems since his arrival at Monmouth three years ago. Last season, his first full year with the Hawks, Bunch averaged eight points, five rebounds, and blocked three shots per game over 25 games. He is considered a key player, to say the least, if Monmouth is to repeat as Notheast Conference Tournament champions.

It appears MU could be adding another scholarship player to the roster at some point later this month.....stay tuned....

MU freshman football players report Aug 8....season is almost here!!!
