NJSIAA in "wait and see' mode..but things are looking up, and not at rain drops
It's beginning to look like there will be NJSIAA baseball and softball in Toms River Saturday..if there's no more rain.
Just spoke on the phone about five minutes ago with Larry White, NJSIAA Associate Director who runs the baseball tournament He said parts of the TR South field were under water Thursday but work on all fields continues today.
""At this point were letting them work,'' White told me.""And if we don't get any more rain there's a very good chance we will be playing tomorrow (Saturday).
""The problem is if we get more rain it would cancel out what we did on the fields today. At this point I haven't heard anything that the fields are not playable. So we're in a wait and see pattern right now.'
Larry and I agreed that I would be calling him later this afternoon.. say around 3-4 p.m. for another update.
At any point they decide to postpone the games until Monday word will be put out at www.njsiaa.org and I would also hope to have it to you (unless they make the decision at 2 am Saturday, then you're on your own til I get up!!!)
But I think the NJSIAA (and of course this means all the hard working, dedicated folks at the TR high schools) are doing all they can to get the fields ready and keep the public informed.
Gee, maybe they should call the Eastern High School grounds crew for advice? NOT.
