Quick NJSIAA recaps, Ocean wins, TRE and P Boro lose
Does this sound familiar? Eric Hinkle and Kyle Norman combined on a shutout, Keith Weinkfsky homered and Ocean whipped Mooorestown, 8-0. Spartans (26-6) will play Morristown (25-7), a 3-1 winner over Old Tappan, 2 p.m. Saturday at Toms River East in the Group III final.
TR East's Matt Padgett threw a seven-inning complete game and lost a heartbreaker to Steinert, 1-0. TR East had a runneer thrown out attempoting to steal to end the game.
And Point Boro had what you could call a bad day. It lost to Gov. Livingston, 18-4. The Governor had 18 hits. Ouch. Blame it on Scott Stump. He covered it.
Jim Simon went 3-for-4 for Point Boro and had three RBI and Tom Heuer went 2-for-3. Pat Biserta was 0-for-3.
