MU women's hoops - Zegowitz/ACL

Monmouth U. women's basketball coach Michele Baxter has confirmed senior center Lindsey Zegowitz suffered a torn ACL in the game at Lafayatte Monday night. Baxter said Zegowitz said she will attempt to rehab for a few months and try to return, if possible, late in the season.

My gut feeling is she will probably not redshirt as she has been accepted into a police academy in Maryland.

Monmouth (0-2) will host Villanova (1-1) 5 p.m. Sunday at Boylan Gym.

Latest on Brianne Edwards, probably out now until mid December, maybe Dec. 16 vs. Drexel at the earliest. Marisa Jimenez maybe returns by Florida trip which is Nov. 23.

and Veronica Randolph is questionable for Sunday due to concussion like symptoms (Lafayette game).

What a run of bad luck! Let's hope everyone gets healthy soon. Best wishes especially to Lindsey, a fine young woman and athlete.

Re: Nova. I would say a long shot at best especially in MU's injury-riddled situation...At one time, before the injuries, I thought they would have a decent chance...

Senior Stacie Whiman averages 20 ppg..and Nova has an excellent assist to rurnover ratio: 25-17. MU's is very bad.

From Nova web site:

Villanova enters play this Sunday with a 1-1 record. The Wildcats defeated La Salle, 64-58, in the season opener on Nov. 9 before falling at Loyola (Md.) by a score of 49-47 on Nov. 11. Monmouth is currently 0-2 with losses at Rider (59-46) and at Lafayette (65-64).

Talked with Michele again about the last play at Lafayette.

They don't put everyone back
because they don't want the other team, Lafayette in this case, to have a free ride to mid
court with still six seconds left.

But there was a general defensive breakdown ...

The two players who were supposed to stay back ran up, and no one else got back in time

tony that would be a good poll question i think you let the shooter shadow the ball with 2 at half court and 2 defending the basket no reason to have people in the paint.they also need to show diferent looks on defence can not be man to man all the time
