NCAA or NIT chatter men and women
Does CCSU have a chance ..to stay within 25-30 points?
Should Drexel have gotten in?
Anyone (besides me) following this D 2 Bentley team (31-0, because it has the local player Jason Westrol from Squan)?
Will MU women be dancing next year?
By the way, that Texas CC men's team visits Boylan Gym next year.

I'm pretty surprised CCSU avoided the play-in game. I guess because Niagara was the 2 seed in the MAAC?
CCSU looked good in NEC championship again Sacred Heart - great game which can't hurt NEC.
Drexel should have gotten in. I think Central keeps it close for some reason. Central loses by 18 pts. I am not quite sure how Niagara got in the play in game. Should have been Jackson St. vs. FAMU based on RPI's (which is what the selection committee has done since the play-in game was established).
I don't know how my bracket is going to look, but I think it is going to be Georgetown over Florida for the title. (I think this is going to be a common game for the title this year).
The NEC thought CCSU was in the play-in game. There is some thought the NCAA did not want to put an NEC team in the game for a second year in a row. How Niagara got in there is a mystery.
Heard an interesting thing about scholarships the other day -- apparently UCONN is considering TAKING AWAY a couple of scholarships from their players in order to get back in the limelight!!!
Imagine if that practice spread to say ... WLB?

Schools in general never really "take away" scholarships (unless the player commits violations, flunks out, etc.)
I am speaking in general here.. they will tell a player...""You'll never play here" or "You don't figure in our plans," etc. and then see what happens.
Schools will sometimes work with a player to find him/her a new school if he/she "decides" to leave.
Of course - a ride is a ride and they don't grow on trees - and to some players - whether they see action or not - it may not matter.
Let's put you on the spot - I will not comment either way as I am never going to encourage an athlete to forfeit a free edcuation - but who do you - as a fan - think should "leave."
Does anyone think the NCAA should go to four play-in games???
I do.
I think they should definately expand if they are going to keep cutting out the mid-major teams. I heard a sportscaster say that the mid-majors are what keeps the madness in March Madness. The best move that the NCAA made was giving the conference winners the automatic bid to the NIT if they get knocked of in their conference tourney.
To free throw: right. They could have a "play-in", er "first round" day type of scenario.
NIT was a good idea.
That' one for the NCAA every decade or so.
Four play-in games would be OK, but let's make the bubble teams play them -- not the conference automatic bids. At least the conference automatic bids accomplished something, and the bubble teams had the same opportunity to win their tournement and failed. Wonder if Boenheim would be so enthusiastic about an expanded field if Syracuse had to participate in a play-in.
Hey TG
Its Tim Walker. I agree with Seth Davis who said elininate the play in game. They should give all the SMALLER school conferences an Automatic bid. I just like the little guy getting the experience that our team had in 1996. Also Get rid of the stupid POD system where they send the team to the closest site near there school. I think the NCAA can afford to send schools away to a place for a weekend. ANy thoughts TG on that???
Take Care Tim Walker
To Tim....so if you dump the play-in game you're booting one more "major" out of the tournament. That would never fly.
As far as the sites..for fans sakes, I like the closer to home scenarios.
Heck, for my sake, too.
Phila. last year was just perfect.
TG who is your final four and your champion?
My Final Four? Uh..Duke. Guess not. No UConn, Duke gone. What's the NCAA coming to?....Gtown, Texas, Fla, UCLA. Winner is...Fla. Dan Werner hits the winning 3. Well, maybe not, but I like Fla.
Frankly I'm more interested in the D2 showdown next week between Bentley (32-0) and Winona State (33-0). Honest.
Tony, you need to stop eating those crack sandwiches, they arent good for you.
C'mon, a little love for those (Bentley) Falcons!
Note that at least three 2007 D1 NCAA teams will be appearing in Boylan Gym next year, Texas CC, Penn, and of course CCSU. Rider is the other home game last I heard.
MU will probably face another one or two in the Paradise Jam.
CCSU would have been better served
participating in the play-in game as MU was last year. At least they would have (maybe) won the play-in (first round).
I looked on the web and along with Monmouth in the Paradise Jam next season will be NCAA Tourney teams Notre Dame, Georgia Tech & Winthrop. Others in the field are Baylor, Charlotte, Illinois-Chicago & Wichita State. They play 3 games, 4 if they make it into the Championship rounds of the brackets. Haven't seen the seeding yet so we won't know which Tourney teams they'll face to start the season.
Since the event is seeded I would think MU draws UND or G Tech in the first game. It looks like a tought start to the season for certain..but the weather will be good!!
