OK..let's talk playoffs! Does MU make it? Where does it finish? This includes Sunday night's Wag-RMU game

Top eight teams qualify.

Sunday night result - RMU defeated Wagner, 71-63.

It appears to me now MU has a shot at fourth place (Sacred Heart).

It has tie-breakers with MSM, RMU, and Wagner. Loses tie-breakers to LIU, and Q pac. Overall this is shaping up as a tie-breakers nightmare

x- 1. Central Conn. State 14-2

2. Quinnipiac 9-5

3. FDU 9-6
Sacred Heart 9-6

5. Robert Morris 8-7

6. Mount St. Mary's 8-8

7. Monmouth 7-8

Wagner 7-8

9. LIU 5-10

10. St. Francis, NY 5-11

11. St. Francis, Pa. 2-13

x - clinched regular season title

To Bob (Tie-breaker Curran). What is the highest MU can finish? You have five minutes!

As much as I hope we make the playoffs I'm still not convinced that this team has the mental toughness it takes to finish the season and go in to the playoff and do what it takes.
We definately show signs of greatness but we just can't string them together to make a run. Great job the other night hawks, please finish strong! Our hearts can't take much more of this stuff!

Tony I have a topic that I hope you may run. I wonder what the other hoops fans think about Monmouth University's lack of traditions. Our fans/alum don't know the fight song, there is no cheer that we all know. What do you think the athletic department/fans could do to build some kind of tradition. I bet most people don't even realize that at the end of each home basketball game the cheerleaders and band sing the school song. I think it's time we try to build some type of tradition and I'd like to see what others on the board think. This is a great forum Tony and I think it will only get better.

I didn't even know MU had a song and I've only been going to Boylan Gym for over 30 years or so!.

My suggestion would be to contact Cliff Rowley..the new Spirit Coordinator...his e-mail is on the MU staff web site.

As for the previous post. Despite the win the other night MU 's flaws were still evident... mainly in problems with late game composure..The turnovers down the stretch (Deki and Marques) were nearly fatal.

For logistcial purposes and other reasons I would love to see a four seed...(well, three too) but three looks like as miracle shot via your scenario. How does MU get a four? Hop to it!!!

(Kidding..you do a great job!)

Tony,
What team do you think is having a more disappointing year,RMU or MU?I can't believe things in Moon Township are Honky-Dory.

Re: RMU. I was thinking the same thing. But I wonder how many people care out there. Where is the RMU blog when you need one?

Tony, I like the thought that one of the anonymous posters suggested about starting a tradition. I have been thinking about this for a while myself and was going to suggest that maybe we do what several other schools do at the start of the game and also add at the start of the second half. That is to get exeryone to stand and cheer "MU" or "OOOOOOOH" until Monmouth scores a basket. This should get the fans into the game early and let the visitors know it's still a loud venue right from the get-go.
