MU men's hoops scrimmage vs. Lafayette

Was Wednesday evening at Boylan Gym, closed to the media and public per NCAA rules (another ridiculous NCAA rule in my opinion).

Dave Calloway comments: "I thought we did all right. I think the guards looked good but we turned the ball over a little too much.
"The disappointing thing is our seniors had most of the turnovers. On the defensive end, thought we did a good job.

Calloway said the scrimmage amounted to seven games of eight minutes. ""Not positive but I'm going to say we won four, lost two, and tied one."

On some of the MU players - ""Bunch looked good. Jhamar looked the best of the young kids and Adam Dobriansky was second best. Dutch Gaitely looked good, too. Rickie (Crews) has a wealth of ability but has a ways to go.""

General information : Yaniv Simpson (shins) and Shawn Barlow (ankle) did not play. Calloway said Barlow hopefully will return to practice Thursday but Simspon may not make it back for another week.

MU practice schedule. Thursday, Friday at 330pm, ANOTHER BLUE/WHITE SCRIMMAGE 830 a.m. Saturday. Practice Monday and Tuesday at 330 pm and MU leaves Wednesday for Old Dominion.

My take and I wasn't there: Lafayette is considered a low level Patriot League team so should Monmouth have blasted them? Without seeing the action and the combinations used is hard to say. Am starting to get concerned about MU's depth, mainly up front.

I get the feeling MU is undecided about red-shirting Dobriansky, the 6-10 freshman. If MU was sure of what the 6-9 Barlow would give them than they probably do the redshirt with Adam but Barlow's being out for the first B/W scrimmage and then Wednesday muddles the picture.

Maybe MU gets a better idea if Barlow scrimmages Saturday.

In other news - Nathan Campbell, a 6-6 forward from Hargrove Military Academy in Va. visited Monmouth last weekend.

Remember Andy Toole from CBA...went to Elon and finished at Penn? He is now a first year assistant at Lafayette. That makes two first year assistants from CBA now coaching college hoops.. Toole and Chris Kenny.
