Would like to make my prediction but I am a little goal-shy after saying MU 3 Iona 0.
At least I got the total number of goals correct.
2 - 0 sounds good also.
What happen to the experienced goalkeeper? Last year he was great.

We jumped on NJIT right from the start with 2 early goals and never looked back. NJIT did not look good at all. We were a step faster and controlled the ball. I always thought of them as a better team, this must be a down year for them. I'm puzzled why Meredith started in goal and can't wait to find out what happened.
We dropped down to 5th in the North Atlantic region. Looks like Quinnipiac is playing pretty good this year.We match up with them on 10/28 should be a good one.

MU played well against a less discaplined NJIT team. Although in NJIT's defense I must say they never fell into kick and run socccer and moved the ball pretty well at times. They did'nt hang their heads and played right up to the final whistle.
My assessment of why the Freshman keeper played is that nothing is wrong with Schenkle. Since Schenkle is a Senior and the freshman is the only other keeper therefore the heir apparant Coach McCourt wanted to get him some gametme experience in this the last non-confernece game. I will also say once he got over some opening minute jiters he did a good solid job of team management. The future looks very bright with this Freshman class

From coach McCourt on MU goal keeping vs. NJIT...

""We felt the young kid is an exceptional goal keeper, Bryan Meredith is very good, and we just felt like he deserved an opportunity.

""Being that it's the last non-conference game before the conference schedule kicks in we felt it was a great opportunity to reward him with the chance to get a start.

""He's come off the bench a couple of times and has done well.''

And there we are!!!

Ahaha. I may not be able to get the scores right in a prediction or spell very well (I reread my post)but I got the basics of the GK thing right. I didn't think anything wrong with Schenkel because I saw him walking around and didn't look hurt, certainly he has been playing well so nothing on those lines--what else could it be.
Any word on how #17 is? He went down hard yesterday and came out of the game not to return. He is another of the Freshman class that has been contributing this season. Any word on when Ryan Kinne will be back? With such a talented Freshman class able to get experience training from the talented upper classmen the next few years ought to be very exiting esspecially if MCourt can continue with sucessful recruiting.

No. 17 is Fr. Chase Barbieri ..had MU's first goal vs. NJIT..probably out (ankle) for about two weeks at least, if it's not broken....

Fr. Ryan Kinne (ankle) will be back Saturday vs. the Mount in MU's NEC opener and 6-3 soph. defender Daniel Bostock - who has been sidelined with an injury will be back Saturday..

Coach McCourt told me three of the starting four in the back have been out of action three of the last four games...but hopes to have at least Bostock return
Saturday and Andreas Klang - who has been ill - see some action as well.....

He expects a physical game with the Mount..

I think Klang was out with mono. It looks like he also lost some weight so he should be some what quicker. He has lots of playing experience so it will be great having him back in the mix. I really hope we can keep our level of play at the highest as we go in to league play.
As I'd written in an earlier blog, we tend to play down to the level of people we are playing instead of blowing teams away and putting them away early. Also we can't get fancy with our play once we get up. Just play soild soccer and come away with the win. They broke NJIT's back with the early goals and they never recovered.
