MU football news update

Talked with coach Callahan this afternoon:

1. Nick LoCastro - about 50-50 for Stony Brook game.

2. Matt Fullam - back up Q back has left the team. A blogger had reported this but - as I will do with most all rumors - I will confer with the appropriate coach to determine validity.

When a rumor does not run it means: 1. it's not true, or 2. it's an ""off the record, team matter,'' etc.

Decided he didn't want to play any more I guess. Had transferred from Fordham. Had dropped - in my opinion - to #3 on the depth chart behind Andrew Mandeville.

Monmouth seems to have some injuries to players that could really help them out??

Re: injuries. well, certainly LoCastro. Marcus Schell a pretty good senior def. back has been out all year. Not sure when (if) he'll be returning..was not expected until maybe mid-late season at best. Shell was a back up corner last year.

If (LoCastro) is a lineman then that hurts big. Was he hurt in the RMU game i saw that game look a bit young on the line (fresh faces). Not sure to what degree the loss of the Defensive back hurts them was he the tall coverage guy I remember seeing him last year i thought he graduated. True indeed they have some secondary issues from watching the RMU game.

It seemed as if jeff brady and tyler burnett haven't been active in a while? Freshmen debut at outside?

Burnett started last game and I believe the opener as well. Has played in both games. Brady played in the opener...apparently did not play vs. RMU (according to the game report) though I thought I saw him in the game (must have been hallucinating as usual).

Tony,

Concerning the youth on the offensive line alongside Dunn, why is it that Bob Skellenger, # 66, who started and played every game last year, doesn't see any playing time? He played all 12 games on the Hawks' NEC championship team. Is he hurt or does the coaching staff consider the youth now used a better product?

Re: Skellenger was listed as a back up center for the RMU game. At this point I do not know why he has not played. I will ask this week...

Hi Tony,
I read on The Sports Network the column by David Coulson, Around the FCS, that "with a 12th game available to teams next season" in his discussion about Montana playing away games. This implies that the FCS teams can add a game to their schedule next year.
Do you think MU or the NEC will go for 12? Can this cause a scheduling problem for MU when trying to find teams to play?
I would like to see more games, especially since I can see the home ones on my computer.

What about that big kid from Roselle Park? I thought he was the back up last year to O'Connel? Can't he help on the O line?

Joe Stodolak III, 6-4, 300 pound Jr. Has been listed as back up each game this year. Has not yet played in his career as far as I can tell..(usually behind Shawn Wright on the depth chart)
