FDU beats RMU/SFNY will limp into MU/Howie's Heroes rack up eighth win in a row/MU one game in the loss column out of third place

Moon Township, Pa. - Feb. 1, 2007 - Forward Andre Harris scored 28 of his career high 34 points in the second half as Fairleigh Dickinson overcame a one-point halftime deficit to send the Robert Morris University men’s basketball team to its second consecutive loss Thursday night, 84-79, at the Sewall Center. The loss drops RMU to 13-7 overall and 5-6 in the Northeast Conference, while the Knights improved to 11-10 and 6-4 in league play.


In the second half Harris took over, hitting shots all over the floor, including two from beyond the arc.

The back-and-forth affair continued as the game featured 17 ties, but the Colonials clawed in front, 77-76, on a layup from junior guard Tony Lee (Boston, Mass. / Charlestown) with 3:36 to go.

Harris tied the game at 77-77 by hitting one of two free throws after a foul by senior center Freddie Harris (Decatur, Ala. / Lawson State C.C.), and his free throw with 42 seconds to play gave the Knights the lead for good, 78-77. Jackson missed a jumper in the paint with 27 seconds remaining, and Ubilla hit both of his free throws to push FDU to an 80-77 advantage.

Chappell led Robert Morris with 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting, while Jackson added 18 and Coleman 14 points. Harris finished with 34 points on 12-of-18 shooting from the field and added 10 rebounds for a double-double, while Ubilla finished with 18 points and Peeples and Sean Baptiste each finished with 10 points.

QPAC topples Terriers


NEW YORK (AP) -Adam Gonzalez scored 17 points, nine from the foul line in overtime, and Quinnipiac held off St. Francis, N.Y., 73-70 on Thursday night.

DeMario Anderson and Casey Cosgrove each had 11 points for the Bobcats (9-11, 7-4 Northeast), who held a 41-32 at halftime.

Marcus Williams topped the Terriers (5-18, 3-8) with 16 points and Allan Sheppard had 13.

Robert Hines converted of one of two from the line for the Terriers with 2 seconds left to send the game in overtime tied at 60.

Quinnipiac scored all of its points in overtime from the line.

St. Francis trailed by as much as 52-45 when Anderson made a jumper with 11:46 to go.

Ruandy Melo led a 15-8 run by St. Francis with seven points that sent the game into overtime.

Note - SFNY lost their next two at home since beating MU. SFNY is 2-10 on the road...


CCSU's Mojica Scores 26 to Lead Central in 74-62 Home Win Over Mount


Senior Javier Mojica's 26 points led Central Connecticut in a 74-62 Northeast Conference home victory over Mount St. Mary's (8-14, 7-4). Freshman Joe Seymore added a career-high 16 points, while junior Tristan Blackwood scored 15 points and dished out nine assists. Senior Obie Nwadike added 11 points and 11 rebounds in the win, registering his 11th double-double on the season. The Blue Devils have won eight straight to move to 13-10 overall and 10-1 in conference play. They are next in action on Monday, Feb. 5 at Long Island. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
