Tony,

Jhamar Youngblood was named the NEC rookie of the week this week according to the Northeast Conference Website. He def. deserved the honor, not only statistically, averaging 18 ppg and 4.5 assists in two blowout Hawks wins, but also providing a real spark that is hard to measure through statistics alone. Youngblood is the first Hawks chosen for a weekly NEC award this season, and probably will not be the last (probably not for him either). RMU's Tony Lee was selected as NEC player of the week for the second week in a row.

Congrats to Youngblood, he has been great, Tony what are your feelings on Jhamar's chances to be ROY in the NEC? At a sort of midway point it would be fun to make some all conference/all rookie team predictions, especially for MU personnel. I will kick it off with my half-way predictions....

Jhamar Youngblood- All Rookie Team, just missing out on ROY

Dejan Delic-2nd Team All-NEC

Marques Alston- 2nd Team All NEC

I would like to see Whitney Coleman step up his play in NEC games, b/c I feel next year he is defintely an all-NEC caliber performer.

John Bunch- Some may be laughing or doubting, but if he makes a run and an impact like he did last year w/i the NEC, he could be a 2nd team all NEC performer...

No NEC COY for Calloway, but predict another winning season and an NEC Finals apperance for the MU Blue and White!

Hey Tony,

Did you happen to see the new Monmouth Athletics site yet? It's pretty snazzy. It's www.gomuhawks.com, but when it's written out it's GoMUHawks.com from what I've heard. They finally have a first class site to go with their successful programs. Happy New Year Tony, and keep up the good work!

Quick update..Rickie Crews back at practice Tuesday. ""His suspension was lifted and he's available" for Thursday vs. Wagner per Dave.

More on today's practice and Jhamar's ROY possibilities, etc. a little later on a separate blog.

Now that he's playing more and has such all-around potential "The Jet" has a shot at Rookie of the Year and certainly All-Rookie team. Deki and or Marques are potential first team candidates (doubt if two from the same team would make First Team).

If MU wins it all wouldn't rule out Dave for COY, though a coach who brings a "surprise team" (Dave Bike at Sacred Heart?) into contention could also rate consideration as MU was picked first.
