Delic reaches 1,000 career points/Alston on the verge

Somehow this escaped my attention - so my apologies to Delic and MU fans. What with all that's going on, it slipped through the cracks, and no one at MU even even mentioned it either!!.

This is from the NEC notes on he NEC website today....

Senior forward Dejan Delic (Belgrade, Serbia-Montenegro/Bridgton Academy (ME)) reached the 1,000-point mark on Saturday and now has 1,003 for his career. He scored a game-high 14 points, hitting 6-10 from the floor. Delic is the 15th Monmouth player in its Division I era to reach 1,000.

..Senior forward Marques Alston (Neptune, NJ/Neptune), who had seven points in the loss (Saturday), should join Delic in the 1,000-point club this week (MU fans hope tonight!). He finished the game with 990 points...Alston, who also has 480 rebounds, is looking to become the seventh Monmouth player to amass 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in his career....With 197 assists, Alston will also become the second player in school annals to hit 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 200 assists. William Lewis totaled 1,517 points, 514 boards and 271 assists from 1988-92..

Delic, who is the school’s career leader with 583 career three-point attempts, now ranks fourth all-time with 197 made three-pointers.

Note on the "Jet"....Freshman guard Jhamar Youngblood leads all NEC freshman in field goal percentage (.543; sixth overall) and ranks second in steals (1.9 spg; fourth overall), and points (11.0 ppg). Youngblood is 6-7 (.857) from beyond the arc in league games.
