A Tom tidbit

This tonight from Lacey assistant coach Tom Faulkner -

""Bill Frank and I were college teammates at OCC
on the baseball team in 1972 & 73. Then as now Brookdale was the team to beat. In 1972
they had John 'the count' Montefusco and in "73 Denny Walling, both who went on to play in
the majors after transferring to Clemson.
"In "73 we won the southern division championship
of the GSAC. Bill played lst base and was an outstanding hitter. And as you know he has become an outstanding coach!''

Tom ..neat stuff. We welcome all reader tidbits and information here.

Tonight Casey Gaynor notched his 29th career victory and with the next one he will become the fifth Shore Conference pitcher to reach 30 wins in his career.
The conference record is 33. Todd Roth as noted earlier pitched very well. Lacey will be a tough out in any tournament with Roth on the hill but the defense has to play a little sharper.

Kudos to the OCT for ending their event prior to the onset of the state and Shore Conference Tournaments.

We know there are many more teams in the Monmouth County Tournament but it would be a plus for Monmouth teams in the states and Shore events if they could end the MCT prior to those tourneys.

Maybe the MCT could start with the prelims...five or six games at one site (Wall Municipal Complex, Count Basie Field), any place with lights, and then a week later play all the first round games at the same site or sites.

Next play the quarters in similar fashion rather than having the individual schools attempt to fit in their games here and there..and Bingo!..you're in the semis.

Right now the MCT still has one first round game to play and is just beginning the quarters.

Rain looks like it could be a problem for everyone for the next week!!!
